So maybe $170 million in net income six years from now...? That warrants a $17 billion market capitalization? So this is a 100x PE ratio on a 6 year forward basis? Yeah, this stock is dirt cheap. Also don't forget that the Company will likely lose $200 million or more, per year, until it can get to that scale. Oh, but I forgot about the trial in China. For those that have never run a Company before, it takes a lot of operating infrastructure to market even the best product. Even if this drug is superior, the amount of investment necessary to displace MRK will be obscene. Years and years of business development investment until there is market acceptance for a new start-up company. Six years from now they MAY have $1.7 billion of revenue.... but I suspect that there will still not be any profit. And remember, this is not going to be a very good investment unless there is product development for some new emerging ailment... which again, will eat into the profit margin. A 10% net income estimate for SMMT is pretty generous at $1.7 billion. Bottom line - you should only invest in this if you like companies that will likely never make any money....

I'm certainly glad that James, Lee, Don, Paul and others are here to rescue us with their superior knowledge and world renowned expertise in oncology, that makes them smarter than Huber, Duggan, Baker Brothers, T Rowe, Fidelity and others that purchased shares at $22.70 in the private placement that raised $235mm for operations. I don't know why I trusted all those experts including MD Anderson when I could have just consulted these message board heroes coming to protect us from ultra successful biotech investors that are worth billions....

Although the results if the Harmoni trial was fantastic, the recent price action mat be due to that the trial was conducted in China by the drug developer (Akeso). The results were so unexpected that some are skeptical of them, and those await confirmation by HARMONi-3 which is being sponsored by Summit at centers in the US. As the expected completion date of this trial is 12/20/27, I wouldn’t expect the stock taking off for quite a while....

The difference - at least as it relates to PCYC (I cannot find the other deal you cite) is that PCYC had enormous revenue growth and PROFITABILITY to justify the $20 billion valuation. Oh, and PCYC started generating revenue after 8 years. This Company has been in business for 20 years and cannot generate any revenue in that time period, is not projected to generate revenue for at least 3 more years, and has zero profitability. But you think this Company is worth twice the value of PCYC without any identifiable commercial business and based upon the promise of one trial in China?...

So you have an average basis of $2 a share, which means you haven't bought any shares since say around November 2023...? You didn't touch it as it rose over the past 7 months. Yes, a very good write-up. This article does a nice job of explaining to the retail investor how SMMT is massively selling shares and diluting its base to fund the development and commercialization of a drug technology that it doesn't own. It also points out that the successful trials were conducted by the same laboratory in China that owns the technology that it is licensing to SMMT. Nothing to worry about there. You sure about those figures, Truth? I see in their annual report, which I acknowledge that you are not accustomed to reading, that Aleso has 4.6 billion in revenue... in RMB. So if you divide that by 7 (is that a good conversion rate Soccer), that suggests to me revenue of about $660 million USD. While $660 million is way more revenue than what SMMT will ever generate, it is not really that much in the grand scheme of things. And how much of that $660 million is a payment from SMMT? I think $500 million of Aleso's revenue is from SMMT. Actually, I can tell you exactly. Aleso generated $120 million in revenue in 2022 before the deal with SMMT. SMMT doesn't have any revenue and profit, and its only asset is a license deal with Akeso. If they bought Akeso, which is ridiculously priced at 28x revenue ($8 billion USD) but still trading at about 1/2 of the value of SMMT, a buyer would actually OWN the technology that SMMT licenses and get a Company with actual cash flow.What am I missing? Read the article on test results. SMMT does not do any development themselves - they only have 105 employees - and most of them are business people. They just license the drug in early development from China. The test results are from very early stage, and the test sample very small - 400 people, and limited to China. Paul, you seem to be looking for investment reasons for purchase or sale. And it's TRADING reasons that are moving the stock. Observation of what the market is actually doing push trading. Buy low, sell high. I'm in, it shoots up, I set a moving stop that takes me out with nearly all my profits. When it is actually is shown to again be moving up after my exit, I'm back in again. The overall plan is to be "in" when buy out at a huge profit occurs, and also to be "not in" when a key trial fails, too many adverse side effects occur, etc, and it all goes to heck. Shorting also might useful for some, but that's trickier. I've been considering this stock but I'm going to pass. 21 trials stretches you out pretty thin with 105 employees. Most trials are in China where FDA takes even a closer look before giving the green light. 6 of the trials are in NSCLC where Immunity Bio is going to take over that market with no preconditioning chemo needed and simple delivery. Maybe SMMT hits the mark with some of the other 15 trials. I'll keep watching but right now, not optimistic. Would like to hear some of the other poster's thoughts....

I am sorry Soccer - I was so excited to see you make a comment that is related to an investment thesis other than Duggan and a mythical buyout that I couldn't contain myself.See my past post on this - Most of Akeso's revenue (like 75% if I recall) is from the $500 million licensing deal with SMMT. That accounts for almost all of the YOY increase cited by SBEICap below. Outside of the license arrangements they have with SMMT, our competitor MRK, and others, Akeso isn't selling much IV. Hmmm, maybe something to think about....?...

But as an astute investor you might be inclined to ask yourself who in their right mind would ask their Board of Directors to invest $17 BILLION in a Company that (1) has no assets other than a license agreement for a drug with very limited track record (2) has never made any money, and (3) is likely to be three to five years away from making any money and proving out the market for this drug. Please know that Duggan's last venture was money making - a big distinction when compared to SMMT. Anyone else see a pattern emerging in the recent analysts initiating coverage? The interesting bit is that the trading desks for both of the banks that recently covered don't seem significantly involved. I've seen this before from the 'inside' - banks start lining up to initiate coverage but trading volume doesn't spike. Within months one of the 'suitor' banks announces exclusive representation; either a raise or M&A. It would surprise me to learn that the usual suspect banks haven't been sniffing around to represent SMMT in future deals.I suppose it's theoretically still possible that an acquisition or merger is a possibility, despite BD's recent chuckle at the question. Again, I believe this is about 'legacy' - whatever form that may take.Buyout number would likely need to be a multiple from today's price, or calculated as a premium on the analysts' consensus....

I didn't see this until today but it looks like Merck has decided to get into the Anti-PD-1-VEGF antibody business. They've struck a deal with a company called Lanova out of China.
