The VIX now signals something unpleasant will occur in our stock market. Gold and silver have been the important touchstones, both vastly ignored for the last 18 months. I am also carrying big short positions with 3 times leverage. I would rather have a stable society than to make more money. That stable society is not in the cards. In the end, I am a realist, and often a cynic. It is much better to be a skeptic than a cynic. A skeptical perspective is grounded in Math. A cynic is grounded in DNA. We actually should be down 3000 Dow points tomorrow. The Plunge Protection Team will not allow that. They will attempt to manage the decline over a wider frame of time.
